S240

Should I buy one of these? Should I undertake a S240 this summer? This on sale at REI-outlet.com for only $79 and I can get 20% off of that. I probably can't buy a cheaper 1-man lightweight tent. Reviews are generally very favorable. I've already been thinking of spots too. It seems like that's what the LHT is built for, no?

School must be out, I look at your blog and there are oodles of blog entries I haven't seen yet. Need to get caught up.

If you want to do a S24O and don't currently have a tent, this tent would be a great one for solo camping. Keep in mind tents don't come with sealed seams, you will need to seam seal it yourself, or it will rain all over you. Once it's sealed properly it should withstand a monsoon. That reminds me, I need to get my new tent sealed this weekend!! I'm also getting the itch to do some S24O's. I've got the LHT, now I need to use it for some loaded, self-supported trips.

Thanks for the heads-up on seams. I have very little tenting camping (is there any other kind?) experience.

Actually I bought it a little while ago. I'll be doing a S240 sometime in June. I have a couple spots I'm looking at already. And yes, you have the LHT as well, so no excuses. AND you seem to have a myriad of options up your way as well.

That looks nice a nice one. The one I bought was -- no joke -- $25. Not as nice as this, but it worked fine for the S24O I did. I need to figure out how to do the whole seam sealing thing.

Incidentally, did you get my e-mail?

I bought one on sale for $20 last year. I've used it twice and it's worked fine, but neither trip was bike oriented.

Way to make me feel bad for my non-deal. No, no. Actually I'm sure I'll be pleased with my purchase, at least until I get poured on on my S240.
