hmmm

  • I visited the cardio doc last Friday after an odd batch of feelings the last month.
  • He concurred that my AF seems to be going down a normal path, which means refractory/medicine non-responsive AF, meaning like roaches, the AF signals become immune to the meds. Bummer.
  • He suggested an AF Ablation, which since learning, quite a few people have had, to varying effect. The numbers are 80% effective, with 30% of those needing a follow up. 1% run into deep shit.
  • He felt that I was a good candidate b/c I'm young and relatively heart fit. The more I read, the more it seems the logical path.
  • Friday, I also have to have a PET/CT Stress test, which is the latest and greatest. Instead of wearing myself out on a treadmill (which I would prefer), instead I take the yummy poison (like I did a few years ago) and then ride into a coffin for a heart CT scan. Hopefully it will show *NO BLOCKAGES*.
  • I have to get a new general physical, something I haven't done in a while. Who wants bad news? It's been so long that my old doctor doesn't even have me listed as a current patient. Oops!
What else?
  • I'm using Livestrong MyPlate to keep track of food and exercise. Frankly, I love the site! It has a huge data base and keeps track of all your intake with color coding to show that you're above or below the day's targets. It also shows whether you're net above or below your calorie intake based on weight and exercise.
  • I'm avoiding obvious sugar sources like candies and chips. I've had a beer or two, but that is about all it'll be. I'm amazed at the normal amount of salt in EVERYTHING. Take that with the amazing amount of SUGAR in everything and no wonder we're all fucked up.
  • I just don't feel that good, with some light-headedness and some chest discomfort, but my BP was good and my EKG was normal as well. It's time to add effective eating to all these miles I've been riding. I've been a dietary train wreck and I just want that to STOP!
  • Doc also suggested that I do more 30min/day riding and exercises and be wary of the mega-suffer fests for heart purposes. So what am I doing this weekend? Dave, Michael and I are heading to Big South Fork for some massive suffering and gravel. More to come on all that.
  • I'm also spending a little money on some bike things. Hope the wife doesn't mind too much, but they're either ordered or being ordered. Updated gravel grinder here I come!
G'night. Pleasant dreams.

My prayers are for successful treatment and improved health for you.

Yes, it takes significant effort to avoid that bad stuff in food. I might need to spend more time shopping and cooking myself.

Hope you guys have a great gravel ride.
