Pics
I don't have much if any experience of manipulating and processing pics. I just shoot and upload. The first is from Day 1 I decided to play with a bit. Number one, I don't know what I think of the original image. There was this wavy texture and movement to the cut grain in nice contrast to the sort of flat sky. I don't think the pics captures that. None-the-less, here are the two different images.
Thoughts?
The second is descending into the graveled valley. Maybe, no, likely to be my favorite section from Day2.

On the first one, the black point might be a little too dark, as you are losing detail in the trees a bit. However, the darker tone works very well in the rest of the image, so I think it's a fair tradeoff. With careful levels or curves adjustment I think you might be able to achieve both.
Or, if you wanted to take it further, you could selectively darken everything BUT the trees, or darken everything and then bring the trees up a bit.
I don't think it's really necessary to take it that far in this case, but if you really wanted to get it perfect, that's what I'd do. It looks really good, definitely a huge improvement over the original. What software are you using for these tweaks?
The notion of curves, saturation, etc. is all new to me, but I liked playing around a bit with these two images. I can't imagine doing it to a series- too much time. But it's fun to take a selected image and maximize it in a certain way.
