Compras

October and November have been heavy bike spending months for me for various reasons.  Firstly, I think that many people are spending on bikes. Jim bought a Trans-Iowa rig, Doug a belt-drive, Vito winter boots, Dale a 'cross project (not blogged yet), Cornbread a new whip,  you get the point.  Bikes are what we do, and we always want to tweak the rigs we ride.

I have several bikes. I would like to have fewer but haven't gotten around to appropriately market the sell-able ones. Dave and I often discuss what we want, would like, don't like and wish to get rid of. In my case I have some real keepers, some middling workhorses and a couple that don't see the mileage to justify them. With that in mind, this Fall smartly or not I've spent some $$ trying to revive a couple long-forgotten rigs to see if there's life in them after all. Ironically enough, the $$ I spent was really intended for the same use, to give me an airtight, rock-solid mixed-terrain rig. Yes, the LHT serves that purposes well with its 26" wheels and bomb-proof frame. That said, sometimes, oftentimes I wish that the heavy LHT was the daily, dedicated commuter or S24O rig and that I had a more nimble, more climbable gravel grinder.  Other mini-projects had nothing to do with mixed-terrain but are just that, tweaks. The projects have flown as such in the posts to follow.

(p.s. I found a somewhat similar post in February. It's evident that I need to start clearing out instead of gussying up.)
