Fitness ride

Simply put, I got together with three good dudes and we tapped out a nice 25-miler, averaging 14mph and having great coffee afterward.

I felt like a cyclist. It was great! (I had a map embedded originally from mytracks from my 'droid. it directly shows Drew's house, so I deleted it. Still trying to move a .kmz file into Strava. No luck)

VitaminG

Dave and I went for a ride, nice and early, looking for VitaminG and VitaminO.  I think I (we) found it.  Our directional/technological/resource skills were questionable, but I had a damn fine time. Dave's ankle sort of gave way after about 20 miles, so we had to turn for the barn a little early, but I didn't mind a bit. It was a great way to spend a morning. Hope you got out too.

Commute avec le pont

Commuted today on the Ute! I said, COMMUTED TODAY ON THE UTE! After work I rolled down to the riverfront to check out the Indiana side of the pedestrian bridge opening. I was pleasantly surprised how the location emptied into a very potentially cool part of Jeffersonville which could benefit from the traffic. Along a couple blocks you have a very traditional-looking small city center with old brick buildings and such. One new one is the Red Yeti Brewing Co which is literally a baseball throw distance from the bridge exit. I did not partake, but a 'Bridge-n-Brew' seems obvious.

Below is a return pic, as you can see the bridge rising towards the left. The slope was a little intimidating and I feel certain a cyclist/rollerblader/crackheadonascooter is going to kill a pedestrian at some point, but it's a nice added feature to the city.  Did I mention that I rode my bike 2 days straight?

"Long"

Pretty amazing really, that on May 20 I just took my longest ride of the year, which was a grand total of 38 pleasant breezy miles. I remember a few years ago doing an impromptu April hundy with Dave on a Friday. That's not possible at the moment.

It's election day, so schools are closed and I used the morning to ride my bike. Fancy that. The FancyBike was in its element; I was not so much, although once I turned north up Taylor the tailwind made me feel a bit more like a cyclist.

Tennis is finished now. The goal is be again become more like a cyclist.

4 trips

Today was a productive one on two wheels as it were. I started the day almost taking a "training ride" but changed my mind and toodled on the Ute up for coffee and then a few extra miles on the way home. Glorious, glorious weather made the decision a bit easier. I dove in to the some yardwork and needed some more grass seed from the local nursery, so that added just short of 2 more miles. Later after the toil of the American Expectation I took the Ute again to the local 'Beer Depot', although it officially goes by a different name, this time for libations and sandwiches. Tonight I had a tennis meeting at the Evil Empire about 3 miles away, so I grabbed the Blueridge (having changed a tube and cleaned out the debris-ridden tire on Friday) and did that, later stretching the legs for just short of an hour of a glorious evening. It felt great in the morning to toodle and felt equally great in the evening to ride a bit faster than the slow slow slow I've been doing lately. It just felt good.

millas

Up to 442 for the year. Other than my FL beachcombing adventure I don't feel like I ride bikes. Blah.

The end (of tennis) is near.
